I have got from ebay Dell 1537 | P8400 2.26GHz | 2048MB (2X1024) 800MHZ DDR2 |15.4 WIDESCREEN WXGA+ 1440x900 | Ati HD 3450 256Mb | Seagate 160Gb/7200 | 9-CELL 85W/HR LI-ION | DELL WIRELESS 1397 | INTEGRATED 2.0 MEGA PIXEL CAMERA | RUBY RED MICROSATIN FINISH CASE €200....i have upgraded 4gb ram Kingston HyperX and 6300 wireless card. I am very pleased with it. I do not do gaming. The power button is glued, the way i have got it, it looks like it was loose... It looks a bit faster than my xps 1647 i5 540M..

You can order a matte version of the screen, as I have on eBay and increase the resolution to WSXGA+/WUXGA+, whichever you like more.

I’d probably lower the score a bit now, because after watching some movies in a dark room I’m not very satisfied with the quality of the display, but it’s still working perfectly, it was a great buy for the price. Thanks for sharing your opinions!

Have had mine now over two years. Dec 2008 Build. Some Vista problems early on. Mine has 4GB Memory and has 64Bit Vista with wireless N. This is my first laptop and I drove myself crazy when I ordered it as I am not a teckie. For music and movies I use a cheap Cingular Portable Speaker but usually play back on my audio system. Except for the early Vista problem which was corrected with a
Windows update I am completely satisfied. I have never used a cooling pad with this laptop. I agree with the rating of an 8 but I am completely satisfied as I don’t have anything to compare it too.

I did switch to Windows 7 and lost my webcam. I have reinstalled the Webcam Central Software and still I have nothing. Would you be able to help, as I’m not a computer wiz at all.

That’s quite strange. Have a look in the Device Manager, maybe you could uninstall the audio device (it reads High Definition Audio in my laptop, it could be IDT something in yours) and reinstall it (Windows should do it automatically using generic drivers, but you can go to Dell and download the one for your laptop).

My laptop Dell Studio 1537 worked nice over one year. Now, it has no sound, and you click
in volume sign at the lower part of the screen, it says there that no audio output device
is installed. ???? What the hell is happening to this laptop? Please let me know if it has
happen to anyone before. Thanks

Well, you know, it’s free as beer, not as freedom. The point is, if you want to compare the benchmarks, you can download WinRAR for free and just run them. Anyway, I have corrected the text to be more precise.

Just a quick note on what you refer to as ‘free software’. WinRAR is most certain *not* free. It’s free to try for about 40 days. Then, everytime you open it, it has a nag scree telling you it is not free.
