An user at the Notebook Review forums has just found information about a refresh of the Studio line, the Dell Studio 1555. The most interesting upgrades from the current model (Studio 1537) are the ATI Mobility HD 4570 graphics card and subwoofer, that should improve greatly the poor sound of the Studio 15. Both are great additions that address weak points of this otherwise great laptop. The touchpad seems to be a Synaptics now.

what about the geforce 9400M option? does it have any dedicated memory?
The 9400M is an integrated graphics card, so it does not have dedicated memory. Its performance seems to be good, at least in laptops using DDR3, but the Studio 1555 still uses DDR2, so maybe performance would not be as good. The specs leaked poit to an Intel chipset (MG45, IIRC), so there is no possibility of a 9400M without switching to an Nvidia chipset.

That comparison is wrong. The 1555 has 3 USB ports while the 1537 has 4. Same with the express card, the 1537 has the 54mm and the 1555 has 34mm. This means that the 1555 loses the remote too.
You are right. The post at Notebook Review was wrong, thanks for warning.
Yay, I think the new 15 is out in Australia now; I was ordering the normal one from the site and I got a call 10 days later saying they have run out of stock and were upgrading mine to a newer version with a better graphics card and a lager display for free! I think it’s the one XD, can’t wait for it to arrive! He didn’t say anything about a subwoofer though. Maybe they removed it T_T
However, I can’t seem to find the option of getting the new one specifically on the aussie site just yet.
i just place an order of it, same spec with 3gb ddr2 ram for RM2999.00, hope to receive it as soon as possible
I just bought this at recent PC fair in Penang, Malaysia for RM2699 (RM3.50 = USD1.00), got a 4GB RAM as well with it…
That looks like a good deal! If anybody with this laptop would like to share some gaming benchmarks with us, please tell me (info@optimitza.cat)

Guys, watch out the Dell.co.uk website – Dell is offering the Studio 15 for 459£ that includes 320Gb harddrive, 4 Gb memory and the 512MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4570 card, all for £459. I’ve got a voucher for 10% reduction by e-mail so just purchased the whole package for £409 – I think I’ve made a phantastic deal. Offer is only valid until 13th of June (2 day summer offer), but keep an eye on the uk website…
i bought studio 1555 2weeks ago.. its really good value for my money. i opted for 320gb 7200rpm hdd, 9 cell battery
Gaming : I played Call of duty 4 with all effects on and it played very smooth with no jerks apart from 2 or 3 places which had negligible jerks.
Day 2 day computing : I am running Windows 7 and its running very well with all features without any issues.
Overall its a great laptop to have
Nice to read that! Please tell us more if you test other games!
man ive got a studio 1555 with 512mb graphics and i cant use all the effects on cod4 otherwise my FPS go to like 20-40 which is absolutely terrible
Well, the card in your laptop is not a strong one, but COD4 should be very playable at low settings, have a look to this benchmark results: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-4570.13885.0.html
Maybe you are trying to play on battery power?
