There are some interesting news about AMD/ATI products this week:
- The full ATI Mobility Radeon series 5000 has been announced (10 models, from 5450 to 5870).
- The Eyefinity technology has been demonstrated: it allows a single card to drive up to 6 screens, and with a good performance: World of Warcraft with details maxed out and a total resolution of 7680×3200 gives around 80 FPS. It seems that the different monitorns do not have to form a single surface, but some can be grouped and others be kept independently. Update: up to 24 screens in a quad CrossFireX setup!!!
- The laptop processors AMD Turion X2 and Turion X2 Ultra built in a 45 nm manufacturing process have been presented: while the TDP is the same than in current processors (35 W), the new ones achieve energy savings of up to 25%. You have a detailed article about the new laptop platforms from AMD (not only the Turion X2 processors, but also the Turion Neo and the chipsets) at PC Perspective.
