I have noted a strong tendency in laptop reviews to give high scores to laptops from Acer, Gateway and other brands, because they give you more bang for the buck, while laptops from other brands such as Toshiba get low scores because the competition offers more for less. But if we have a look at this recent laptop reliability study, Acer and Gateway laptops are a 50% more prone to malfunction than the ones from Asus or Toshiba (by the way, am I the only one to be surprised by the position of Lenovo laptops?). So, what laptop would you pick?
I understand that a review has to rely only on actual information of the laptop the reviewer has in his/her hands, and you can’t know for how long is the laptop going to last, but maybe the “bang for the buck” should influence less the final score…
