Gaming laptop section updated

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Second section updated today! The gaming laptop section has just been updated, including options sporting the all-new Nvidia GeForce GTX 480M.

There are interesting things happening at Computex, but I don’t have the time to write about them, only to retweet a few. Follow me on Twitter!

Basic laptop section updated

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Updating is going at a good pace: here you have the updated version of the basic laptop section.

Just for clarification, I’m putting under the “basic laptop” sections standard-size laptops that are more expensive than cheap laptops, but less than multimedia, professional and gaming laptops. Enjoy!

Light laptop section (finally!) updated

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

I have to admit that I have neglected the English version of towards the optimal laptop. That’s because it needs twice the time to mantain than the Catalan and Spanish versions combined, but gives 1/10th of the income. But I have decided to update all laptop sections in the English (US/UK) version, so they are more similar to the Catalan and Spanish versions.

The first section to be updated is the light laptops one. I hope you find it useful! I hope to finish updating the rest in the next 2 weeks.

Gaming laptop section updated

Monday, June 29th, 2009

I have to admit that I update the Spanish laptop selections more often than the English one, but the recent launch of the Alienware M17x and the availability of a new sponsor, Xotic PC, prompted me to update the gaming laptops section. I hope you find it useful!

Towards the optimal laptop – optimitza.cat is now PageRank 5

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I know, compared to the Internet giants with PR 8 or 9, 5 is still not much, but it’s a nice improvement!

News section updated to WordPress 2.8

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I have just updated the News section to the lastest version of WordPress (2.8). I was still using the very old 2.3.1 version and the update was very needed!

Please tell me in case you notice something is not working as intended.

Contribute to the new laptop benchmarks!

Monday, May 4th, 2009

OK, so the current benchmarks in my site are getting too old. In addition, actual gaming data are more interesting than 3D Mark scores. So I decided to get another kind of benchmarks to publish on this site: user-contributed laptop benchmarks (Crysis, Devil May Cry 4, World in Conflict and X3: Terran Conflict demos). It is hard to coordinate all the sources but the table is finally taking shape. Here you have the laptop benchmark table. As you can see there is a good representation of powerful cards, but entry-level ones are almost absent. It would be very interesting to have data from the Intel GMA 4500MHD, GeForce G 105M, Mobility Radeon HD 4330 and so. In fact, all current cards are interesting!

You can contribute with your benchmarks. What are you waiting for?

Small and fast laptops, ultraportables and netbooks

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

This week I added two new sections to the laptop selections:

These two sections add to the netbook comparison to cover a wide array of small and light laptops. If you need a light laptop, I think you are going to find them helpful.

Results of the first 6 months of optimitza.com

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Today I realized that towards the optimal laptop – optimitza.com is already 6 months old (it is from March 20th). It’s a good moment to have a look to the results obtained.

Some interesting data:

  • 29.209 visits (average: 162 visits/day).
  • 81.650 pageviews.
  • 59% visits to pages in Spanish, 37% in Catalan, 4% in English.
  • 65 laptops bought following links from optimitza.com.
  • Most common keywords to get to optimitza.com: optimitza, portatiles, optimitza.cat, memoria robson, t9300, portatiles ligeros, crysis dell xps m1730, acer, dell inspiron 1520, portatil.

As you can see the English version has very little impact: it’s not surprising if you compare its contents to the Catalan version (the main one). I need more time to translate most sections to English (and to convert the laptop models and prices available in other countries). The amount of news published in English is smaller too, mainly because I try not to be too redundant publishing news that have already appeared in lots of other news sites.

Thanks to everybody, I’ll keep improving the site as much as I can. And please remember that any suggestion, collaboration or idea is going to be welcome.

Welcome to our tech and laptop news section

I’m glad to announce the opening of this brand new section in towards the optimal laptop – optimitza.com. Here you are going to find interesting news about technology, mainly hardware (laptops and more), but any relevant tech news are going to be posted here. News will be kept short and light on technical jargon, so they can be an easy reading for the general public.

I hope you enjoy the new content.
